Shutterfly Book
I just ordered a Shutterfly book. I used the pictures from Disney. It was my first Shutterfly book and (shock shock) I waited until almost midnight and the coupon was about to expire. I like the layouts they gave you, though I had a hard time customizing my book (see previous comment about midnight!)
They gave me the code to embed the book, so here goes:

Jack Johnson
Jeanna and I enjoyed an evening out yesterday without the kids. She had purchased concert tickets to one of our very favorite singers for my birthday. It was a great show; terrific music in an outdoor venue. It was hot, but a cool breeze kept us comfy. We had a blast and it was a wonderful gift!

Hilton Head
We recently returned from Hilton Head, South Carolina and it was a great vacation!
We drove overnight to get there, taking turns and even napping once for an hour or two. We arrived at about 8:00 in the morning, allowing us to 'sneak' and extra beach day in. We had a blast playing in the waves until the room was ready.
We were there over the Independence Day holiday, so we enjoyed fireworks over the water. During the day we actually rented bikes and rode up and down the different bike paths and swam at a few different beaches. We rode the bikes to Shelter Cove and enjoyed a kiddie concert with the talented Shannon Tanner. He did the sing-along thing complete with hand motions, crazy dance moves and he ensured that everyone got involved.
Riding home in the dark was sort of an adventure but we managed, and we had so much fun biking that when we got home Jeanna and I each bought bikes so we can do it more often.
We also enjoyed another outdoor concert later in the week, with Greg Russell in Harbor Town. He also did the sing-alongs and we have seen him several times now. What a treat to hear great music under the sun and stars.
Our vacation consisted of waffles in the hotel lobby followed by beach time. When we got overly hot or sandy we moved the party to the hotel pool and usually made subs in the room for lunch. We went out for a nice seafood dinner one night and cooked burgers on the grill another night.
When we checked out of the room on our last day we squeezed in one last day at the beach and pool. We didn't leave town until about dinner time and only made it halfway home. We stayed overnight in Asheville, NC and that broke up the trip a little bit.
We all got a ton of sun and had a great time. Already looking forward to our next trip down, whenever that will be!

Warren Dunes State Park
Warren Dunes State Park
We spent the day at the dunes! We had great fun playing in the sand, water and clay! It was Jeanna's first visit to Lake Michigan and she was impressed by the size of it! The water was cold and refreshing and then we walked along the river away from Lake Michigan to the clay pits. The kids had a blast and the adults tried to keep up. We smeared mud all over and for once didn't bug the kids about getting dirty. Then we walked back to Lake Michigan and rinsed off. After a while longer in the sand and water we headed home to celebrate Jeremiah's third birthday. We had a Toy Story theme--his current favorite--and had cake and ice cream. What a wonderful summer memory!

2010 6/5 Deam's Lake
We headed to Deam Lake yesterday. it was nice for Jessica to get out of the house for a little while. She has been recovering from having her adenoids and tonsils removed and having ear tubes put in. We only stayed for a bout two hours but we had time to cool off, splash around and play n the sand. We haven't been there since we moved and were pleased to realize it was less than 10 minutes from our house and only $5 for all of us to get in. I think we may be heading back again this summer!

Jessica's Surgery
So Jessica had her turn under the knife today. She had her tonsils and adenoids removed and ear tubes placed in. She will be taking it easy for a little while, but received one compliment after another about what a great little patient she was. We are wrapping up the school year and starting off the summer. The kids will be at four different schools next year! Wow!

Catching Up
From March 2010 |
OK, I'll admit it. I just don't keep up with the family blog like I used to. I'm not sure if I can blame it on one certain thing, but I'll throw a few of these excuses out and see which ones stick...
*facebook has sort of replaced the reporting of the day to day activity I used to write about here
*being a student again
*fourth child syndrome
At any rate I will say this. Jeanna recently got me a very nice gift. It is actually one of the best gifts I have ever received. She ordered a hard bound, full colored book of all our blog entries. It started in June of 06 and concluded with the write up of Disneyworld.
So even if no one is reading these days because you are fb friends I want to get back in the habit of entering stuff here as well.
To catch you up since Disney be sure to check out our photo page to see pictures from a visit to Elkhart, Easter in Taylorsville and home a little bit of snow fun.
At any rate I'll try to post a little more often.

Disney
We made it back safe and sound from Disney World the other day. The trip was simply magical from start to finish. We were there a week and enjoyed each park twice with the exception of Epcot, which we went to once. My mom joined us which allowed us to cover a great deal more ground and made it so the big girls could do more 'stuff'. Among our favorites were the Expedition Everest ride and safari at Animal Kingdom, the Rock and Roll Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios, Big Thunder Mountain at the Magic Kingdom and Soarin at Epcot. We enjoyed the food greatly, we had a pass for two meal and two snacks per day. While it was counter service, we had read all the reviews of the best places to eat and were not disappointed. The food at Epcot was especially fun, lots of German candy and French desserts. We enjoyed Wolfgang Puck Express so much that we returned a second time, and used our last few leftover meals to bring some pizzas on the road as we left. We had purchased the Unofficial Guide a few months in advance, and it paid of greatly. We were able to beat the crowds and avoid lines in many cases, even as the parks were filled near capacity. We got to the point where we mastered the art of getting fast-passes for use later and were able to repeat many of our favorite rides two and three times.
We took over a thousand pictures (go figure) and I wanted to get a few of them uploaded and posted here while I still had some tim off. Enjoy!
